Vehicles restricted to Connaught Place

Unruly revellers on police's radar

Connaught Place remains the epicenter of Delhi's new year eve celebration and the crowd stays thick late at night to celebrate the coming of the new calendar. At the same time, Delhi Police remain on their toes and stand guard to maintain law and order,more importantly traffic police busy themselves with keeping tabs on earring vehicles, drunken driving and violation of traffic norms.

Large gatherings are expected at Connaught Place. Seeing the expected crowd, Delhi Traffic Police  have made several arrangements for safety and security purposes near the area of Connaught Place.  

Some restrictions are imposed- No vehicle is allowed inside the inner, middle and outer circle of CP without permit. Vehicles will be restricted at major nodal points such as Mandi House, Bengali Market, Ranjit Singh Flyover, Minto Road, Patel Chowk, Gole Market, Windsor Place. 

Limited parking is being arranged for visitors, unauthorised parked vehicles will be towed. Moreover, an advisory is released stating use of public transport and avoiding Mathura Road to reduce congestion. There will be strict punishment for drunk drivers, reckless drivers and stunt bikers.
