Husband stabs wife to death
Demanding money for booze
A call was received from Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital about a woman Geeta 35 years, resident of Kichhripur and her 14 year old son Raj with stab wounds. At that point,they both were conscious and oriented. However, the injured Geeta who had a deep stab injury in the abdomen area, was immediately shifted to OT where she was operated upon and was put on ventilator support. However, Raj was discharged after being given preliminary treatment.
The crime team was summoned at the SOC and the statement of injured Raj was recorded who stated that his father Sanju had come home heavily drunk and started asking for money to his mother to buy more liquor. When she refused to give money, his father got angry and stabbed his mother in the abdomen, making her severely injured. He tried to save her but his father also stabbed him in his chest.
From the contents of the statement of injured Raj, prima facie an offence u/s 109 BNS corresponding to 307 IPC was made out. Hence , FIR was registered at PS Kalyanpuri accordingly. Manhunt was launched to arrest the accused husband who escaped from the house, intentionally throwing his mobile nearby to avoid being caught. In the meantime, the injured Geeta succumbed to her injuries. Subsequently, the section of law was altered to 103 BNS corresponding to section 302 IPC.
"Continued and sustained efforts to trace the accused bore results and his presence was found to be in his village in UP. Teams were immediately sent to arrest the accused. The local police were also roped in. However, before the team could reach his village, information was received that the accused had tried to commit suicide by hanging from a tree and had been rescued and taken to hospital for treatment. He is under medical observation and convalescing now. He will be taken in custody once discharged. The probe in the case is underway." Apoorva Gupta DCP East district averred.
