The Bihar Pavilion at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) witnessed a massive turnout on yesterday. The pavilion’s stalls not only showcased Bihar’s rich cultural heritage but also highlighted the extraordinary craftsmanship and creativity of local artisans. Among the main attractions were the handcrafted products by Sarvesh Ali from Patna and Adil Akhtar from Darbhanga.

Bihar Day will be celebrated today with special cultural programmes featuring performances by renowned artists from the state. The event will be graced by the Hon'ble Minister of Industries and Tourism, Nitish Mishra, as the chief guest.

Sarvesh Ali, a craftsman from Patna, has carved a niche for himself in the field of handcrafted bamboo products. Active in the industry for over six years, Sarvesh has been honoured with a national award for his dedication and creativity.

Sarvesh has successfully brought these exquisite products to markets for exporting them to countries like Malaysia and Turkey, thereby enhancing India’s reputation globally.

Adil Akhtar from Darbhanga has gained recognition for his collection of 100% pure leather bags, crafted using hyde of goat, buffalo, camel, and sheep. These durable and aesthetically appealing bags, with a lifespan of 8-10 years, are a blend of utility and elegance.

Adil employs 15 women in his self-help group, empowering them with sustainable livelihoods. His bags are priced between ₹100 and ₹3200, catering to customers across all segments. With sales ranging from ₹1.5 to ₹2 lakh, Adil’s work has earned him a state award, and 99% of his clients are repeat customers.

The Bihar Pavilion is not just a platform for these artisans but also a medium for promoting the state’s handicrafts and handcrafted products on a global scale. It symbolizes Bihar’s rich cultural heritage and the unparalleled talent of its artisans, taking Indian craftsmanship to new heights.
