The Special Cell has dismantled an interstate arms smuggling cartel operating from Nabha Jail in Patiala, Punjab. Three key members of the syndicate were arrested, and five illegal pistols were recovered from them.

The accused have been identified as Aniket alias Golu (25), Sourav alias Sonu (23), and Anand alias Monu (25) — all residents of Delhi. The cartel, active across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and Punjab, sourced illegal firearms from suppliers in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team apprehended Aniket near ITO in central Delhi with four sophisticated pistols in his possession. His interrogation led to the arrests of Sourav and Anand, who had facilitated the arms trade by transferring funds via digital payment platforms.

Authorities revealed that the cartel was coordinated by Sonu Paswan, currently lodged in Nabha Jail, who allegedly operated the network using a mobile phone seized from him during the investigation.

“This arrest is a significant blow to the illegal arms supply chain operating in Delhi-NCR,” said DCP Amit Kaushik, Special Cell (TYR).

Further investigation is underway.
