PFWS celebrates first anniversary of SMITA Therapy Centre

The Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) celebrated the first anniversary of SMITA, a therapy centre for special children of Delhi Police personnel, at Malviya Nagar Police Colony. Eminent educationist and social worker Sonal Shah, who inaugurated SMITA last year, graced the event as the Chief Guest. She distributed token of affection, interacted with children and therapists, and praised the centre’s progress in boosting children's confidence.

PFWS President Ms Ritu Arora highlighted SMITA’s growth, expanding from 20 to 52 children and increasing therapists from three to six. The event featured an audio-visual presentation, cultural performances by special children, and heartfelt testimonials from parents.

Sewa Bharti donated special equipment, while MOUs with Sahyog Care 4 U and BSES secured funding for therapists’ salaries. Another MoU with IACT Education Pvt. Ltd. will provide English classes for police families.

Key donors and facilitators, including representatives from Sewa Bharti, Sahyog Care 4 U, BSES, and Pratham Foundation Trust, were felicitated. The Chief Guest lauded SMITA as a platform for special children to thrive, overcoming challenges and discovering their potential.
