Illegal poker racket busted 10 gamblers in police dragnet

In a major crackdown on illegal gambling, the Special Staff, Shahdara, busted a high-stakes poker racket operating from a residence in Yojana Vihar, Shahdara. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the premises and apprehended 10 individuals engaged in gambling.

The raid was conducted by a team led by ACP Operations Shahdara, Gurudev Singh, under the supervision of DCP Shahdara. The accused, identified as Parchet Sharma, Viran, Akash Sharda, Puneet Sachan, Vickey Kumar, Nikunj Jain, Ankit Gupta, Ravi Beri, Siddhant Gupta, and Abhishek Sharma, were caught in the act with ₹30,000 in cash, playing cards, plastic gambling tokens, and a money token locker.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused used plastic tokens as a medium for betting, which were exchanged for cash. The poker table was set up specifically for gambling purposes without any legal authorization.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Delhi Public Gambling Act, 1955. Further investigation is underway.

"This operation is a clear message that illegal gambling will not be tolerated anywhere in the district. Our teams remain committed to curbing such activities to ensure law and order," said DCP Shahdara, Parshant Priya Gautam.
