'Chintan Shivir' upskills IOs for empirical investigation
A camp fostering awareness about upskilling cops to better their way of investigation was organised by senior police personnel.
Sagar Singh Kalsi, additional commissioner of police,ER (Eastern Range) chaired the meeting. It was a comprehensive exercise attended by senior officers in the range who laid great emphasis on strengthening and enhancing investigation prowess of an IO which eventually makes prosecution strong enough to up conviction rate.
“Chintan Shivir For Excellence In Investigation” at the DCP office Shahdara with legal consultants from the eastern range. The session was chaired by SS Kalsi who threw light on various aspects comprising nitty-gritty and subtle nuances of policing, more categorically of an investigating officer handling the case.
Prashant Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahadra District hosted the meeting. He held a healthy dialogue stressing the need for fair and empirical investigation that not only facilitates prosecution in court but also convicts the criminal.
During the deliberation, Delhi Police legal consultants addressed key challenges faced by Investigating Officers and explored practical solutions pertaining to the complexity of the case.
SS Kalsi in his address emphasized that ‘Capacity Building’ plays a pivotal role in enhancing the skills, knowledge, and resources of investigating officers (IOs). Strengthening these areas leads to improved police investigations and facilitates the delivery of speedy justice.
This process also deepens the understanding of legal frameworks, human rights, and procedural standards—minimizing errors and ensuring that investigations adhere to the rule of law.
With the changing dynamics of crime, continuous capacity development equips officers with the latest tools, surveillance methods, and access to databases, thereby boosting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Quality investigations reduce the likelihood of evidence being dismissed due to procedural errors. Consistent interaction among law enforcement personnel strengthens case integrity, with legal consultants offering guidance on evidence admissibility, thorough documentation, and effective interrogation techniques which ultimately increases the chances of successful prosecutions.
