Three of Bhau/Neeraj Bawana gang caught after gun battle

In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Crime Branch apprehended three gangsters linked to the notorious Bhau/Neeraj Bawana gang following a shootout in Rohini. The accused, identified as Atul alias Monty alias Jacky, Rohit, and Prince, were found in possession of illegal firearms, including a semi-automatic pistol, two country-made pistols, and five unspent rounds.

The operation, carried out by the NR-II unit of the Crime Branch under the leadership of Inspector Neeraj Kumar Sharma, successfully averted potential attacks in Delhi and Haryana.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team, under the supervision of ACP Narendra Beniwal and DCP Satish Kumar, laid a trap near Prem Adhar hospital in Deep Vihar, Rohini. Around 10:30 pm, the team intercepted the suspects, who were riding a Splendor motorcycle. The gangsters attempted to flee, when asked to stop which led to a dramatic encounter.

One of the suspects opened fire on Head Constable Naveen, hitting him in the chest, but his bulletproof jacket saved his life Naveen returned the fire resulting in injuring the assailant in the leg. Another suspect tried to attack constable Krishan but was swiftly overpowered. The third suspect was apprehended before he could escape.

The arrested gangsters have a long rap sheet.

DCP Crime Branch Satish Kumar lauded his team’s efforts, stating, “The swift and strategic action by our officers not only led to the arrest of these dangerous criminals but also prevented potential attacks in Delhi and Haryana. Crime Branch remains committed to dismantling organized crime networks in the city.”

A case under relevant sections of the BNS Act and Arms Act has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
