Crime Branch busts cricket betting racket

10 nabbed with paraphernalia

Crime Branch caught 10 accused involved in betting syndicate run by Raju and his associates in the area of Joshi Road, Karol Bagh and recovered five laptops, 14 mobile phones, notepad and a TV. The gang was also associated with the betting of Big Bash League, an Australian cricket League. 

A team comprising Inspector Kamal, SIs, Gulab singh, Samay Singh, ASIs Rakesh, Jafruddin, Shailender HCs Ramkesh, Shakti, Surender, Varun Kumar and constable Navin led by Inspector Satendra Mohan under the supervision of Ramesh Chander Lamba was constituted.

Accordingly, the police conducted a raid in the flat of Joshi Road, Karol Bagh. The police arrested 10 people including Raju Vaishnav 48 years as prime accused. Other accused were identified as Ajay Kumar 43 years, Yogesh Taneja 36 years, Tarun Khanna 34 years, Manish Jain 34 years, Kushal 32 years, Parvesh Kumar 44 years, Harvinder Deol 38 years, Gautam Rao 43 years and Jagrit 32 years. 

As the probe progressed,  the accused revealed about purchasing a master ID from JMD sports.com. Daily transactions exceeded ₹1.5 lakhs with profits ranging between ₹30,000 and ₹40,000. All the bets executed were recorded on the notepad.
