Inter-state drug trafficker arrested
23.75 kg cannabis seized
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Narcotics Squad of North-East Delhi Police arrested a notorious interstate drug trafficker and history-sheeter from Nand Nagri, recovering 23.75 kg of cannabis worth approximately ₹12 lakh. A white scooty (UP 14 FD 9267) used in smuggling was also seized.
The accused, identified as Abhishek alias Sagar (28), a resident of Ghaziabad, UP, has a criminal history with 16 cases, including robbery, attempt to murder, and four cases under the NDPS Act. Acting on intelligence inputs, a police team led by Inspector Kiran Pal, under the supervision of ACP Vivek Tyagi, intercepted him near Pilli Mitti, behind TLM hospital, where he was found carrying a gunny bag filled with cannabis.
DCP North-East Ashish Mishra stated, “The accused is a habitual offender with a long criminal record. His arrest is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to curb organized crime and drug trafficking in the area.”
Police are now investigating his supply network to dismantle the larger syndicate involved in drug smuggling.
