‘Mission Reconnect’ to return stolen phones
‘Mission Reconnect’ is our commitment: Swami
The Delhi Police Metro Unit has launched "Mission Reconnect – Your Phone’s Journey Back Home", a pioneering initiative aimed at recovering and returning stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners. Since its inception on January 30, 2025, the initiative has led to the recovery of over 450 stolen mobile phones worth more than ₹1 crore, with 201 phones handed over to victims at a special event held at Utsav Sadan, New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp.
The initiative, spearheaded by DCP Metro, Hareshwar Swami, under the guidance of senior officials, streamlines the recovery process through five specialized units: Technical, Field, Nodal Officers, Court Facilitation, and Reconnecting Units. This structured approach ensures not only the tracking and recovery of stolen phones but also their hassle-free return, including direct deliveries where feasible.
Speaking on the occasion, Hareshwar Swami said, “A mobile phone today is more than just a device—it is a vital link to one’s personal, professional, and digital life. ‘Mission Reconnect’ is our commitment to restoring that connection efficiently and with integrity.”
The initiative has already made a nationwide impact, with police teams tracking stolen devices across 16 states, from Kerala to Jammu & Kashmir. With this proactive effort, the Delhi Police aim to not only combat mobile theft but also reinforce public trust in law enforcement.
