The Delhi Traffic Police organized a seminar on "Road Safety and Efficient Traffic Management" at Adarsh Auditorium, PHQ Jai Singh Road. The event brought together senior traffic police officials, experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss at length innovative solutions for improving road safety and traffic flow in the national capital.

The seminar was inaugurated by Delhi Police Chief Sanjay Arora who emphasized the crucial role of the Traffic Police due to their visibility on roads. He urged authorities to analyze fatal accidents in detail and adopt a solution-oriented approach to traffic issues. Senior officers, including Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic Zone-I) Kannan Jegadesan, and Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic Zone-I) Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of efficient traffic management in reducing road fatalities, spillover, snarls and congestion.

Experts from reputed institutions such as IIT Delhi and the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) presented their insights into key topics, including accident-prone hotspots, public awareness campaigns, AI applications in enforcement, and the role of technology in traffic management.

Dr. Velmurugan, Chief Scientist and Head of CRRI, remarked, “The seminar provided a platform for experts and stakeholders to share their knowledge and experiences. We hope the recommendations made will contribute to improving road safety in Delhi.”

Faculty members from IIT Delhi, Girish Aggarwal and Dr. Rahul Goel, cautioned against over-reliance on technology, stating that AI and automation should be seen as tools to assist in traffic management rather than as standalone solutions.

Ms. Ruchi Verma, CEO of HumanQind, highlighted the importance of "Safe School Zones" and discussed an ongoing pilot project aimed at ensuring safer routes for children in various districts of Delhi.

The seminar also included an interactive Q&A session, where traffic police personnel had their queries addressed by experts from NHAI and PWD.

Concluding the event Monika Bhardwaj, said, “This seminar reinforced our commitment to making Delhi’s roads safer and traffic flow more efficient. Collaborative efforts between enforcement agencies, experts, and the public are crucial to achieving this goal.”

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest and all experts, reaffirming Delhi Traffic Police’s resolve to enhance road safety and traffic management in the city.

"This seminar reinforced our commitment to making Delhi’s roads safer and traffic flow more efficient. Collaborative efforts between enforcement agencies, experts, and the public are crucial to achieving this goal.” Ms Monika Bhardwaj, additional Commissioner of Police
