Fake Visa appointment racket busted

A team of Central Range Crime Branch arrested 3 persons identified as Chandan Baranwal, Azad Pratap Rao and Ritesh Tiwari. The accused were involved in a massive scam where they extorted a large sum of money from foreign job seekers, promising them appointment letters and visas to various countries.

The case was registered following a complaint from Anand Singh, a consultant at VFS Global, a company providing outsourcing and technology services for visa, passport, and consular services alleged that Parveen Sahoo and Ajeet Sahoo, through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Telegram, falsely represented themselves as VFS officials. They forged visa appointment letters in exchange for large sums of money from applicants. The accused misused the VFS logo in their online profiles and communicated with victims via fraudulent email IDs, further enhancing the deception.The accused used to induce people and get a good amount transferred in different accounts. On this, they would take the visa appointment letter of tourist / business category.

One victim Aamil Sheikh, was identified, he had been duped of ₹2.5 lakh for an appointment letter for a visa to Poland, which turned out to be forged. Under the leadership of Inspector Sunil Kalkhande, the investigation team, operating under the supervision of Pankaj Arora, ACP/CR, and the overall guidance of Vikram Singh, DCP/Crime Branch, made significant breakthroughs. The team meticulously analyzed numerous email IDs, fake SIM cards, and extensive bank and VFS records. Through diligent efforts, the team traced the bank accounts and mobile numbers used by the fraudsters. The mastermind, Chandan Barnwal with the fake name of Parveen Sahoo, was apprehended from UP.
