In a swift and coordinated operation, the East District Police solved a murder case within hours, apprehending two accused as they attempted to flee Delhi. The deceased, identified as Rohit (30 years), was shot dead near NH-24, close to Phool Mandi, around 2 on the Monday morning.
According to police sources, a call was received from LBS hospital, where Rohit had been admitted with a gunshot wound but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The case was immediately assigned to Sub-Inspector Satya Prakash, who reached the hospital to investigate.
Eyewitness Akash Chaudhary, who was with Rohit at the time of the incident, provided a crucial statement to the police. He stated that they were returning on a scooty after refueling at a dumping yard when a Baleno car intercepted them near Phool Mandi. "Three to four armed men stepped out and opened fire at Rohit before fleeing the scene," Akash told investigators.
Based on his statement, an FIR (No. 121/2025) was registered under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a massive manhunt was launched soon after.
Keeping in view the gravity of the crime, four special teams were formed to track down the accused. These teams, led by senior officers;
Team A – Police Station Ghazipur, led by ACP Tilak Chand Bisht
Team B – Anti-Narcotics Squad, led by ACP Nitya Radha Krishna
Team C – Special Staff, led by ACP Nitya Radha Krishna
Team D – AATS (Anti Auto Theft Squad), led by ACP Nitya Radha Krishna
Working under the supervision of Additional DCP Vinit Kumar, the teams meticulously examined CCTV footage, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras, and call detail records (CDRs) to trace the accused. Their relentless efforts paid off when they successfully apprehended two suspects – Nazim (40 years) and Talib alias Tariq (24 years), both residents of Ghazipur Dairy Farm. They have been taken into custody, three more suspects are still at large. “Efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused at the earliest,” officials said.
Monetary Dispute Behind the Murder
Preliminary investigations reveal that the murder was motivated by a long-standing financial dispute between the victim and the accused. "This was a well-planned attack, driven by monetary differences. We are probing further to uncover any additional angles," said DCP East, Abhishek Dhania.
Further investigations are underway as more arrests are likely.
