Eastern Range defeats Traffic XI in a tight finish

The much-awaited Rakshak Cup 2025 began with great enthusiasm as Eastern Range secured a thrilling victory over Traffic XI in the opening match inaugurated by Ajay Chaudhry, Special Commissioner of Police, Traffic Delhi. Chaudhry in his brief address extended his best wishes to both the teams in the bat-and-ball battle.

The match played at Yamuna Sports Complex, Eastern Range captained by Deependra Singh and Traffic XI led by Shashank Jaiswal ended in a nail biting finish.

Eastern Range won the toss and elected to bat first and posted a total of 141 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Despite putting in great efforts, the bowlers of Traffic XI couldn’t completely restrict the Eastern Range batsmen from setting a competitive target. Chasing 142 runs, Traffic XI fought hard but fell just short, getting all out for 139 runs in 19.5 overs. With this close finish of 2-run victory, Eastern Range set the tone for an exciting tournament ahead.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry stated, "The Rakshak Cup has been organized for the past seven years, providing a fantastic platform for police personnel to compete and bond with one another. This tournament not only promotes fitness but also fosters camaraderie and teamwork among officers."

Rajeev Nishana, President of the Indian Media Welfare Association, emphasized the growing popularity of the tournament, saying, "With 12 teams participating this year, we anticipate even more excitement in the coming editions of the Rakshak Cup."

The thrilling start to Rakshak Cup 2025 has once again highlighted the spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and teamwork among police personnel, promising an action-packed season ahead.
