Notorious arms supplier of Baba Safidon gang arrested in M'bai
Delhi Crime Branch has arrested Bhola Shankar, a 26-year-old wanted criminal and key arms supplier of the notorious Baba Safidon Gang. Shankar, who was absconding in multiple cases, including a high-profile robbery in Delhi, was nabbed from Andheri East, Mumbai, while attempting to flee to Dubai.
Shankar was wanted for five cases across Delhi and Haryana. He was the prime accused in the robbery of foreign currency worth ₹7.5 lakh from a currency exchange office in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, on February 14. Two of his associates were previously arrested in this case, but he had been on the run.
The team, led by Inspector Sandeep Tushir, tracked him using technical surveillance and apprehended him near a hotel in Mumbai.
Shankar’s criminal record includes cases of illegal arms possession and a carjacking incident in Haryana. He was also linked to the supply of weapons to gangsters. Despite a previous arrest in 2024, he evaded authorities and even traveled to Vietnam and Thailand during his time on the run.
Police officials stated that his arrest is a significant blow to the Baba Safidon gang’s operations. Further investigations are underway.
