Cricket betting racket busted

The NDR Crime Branch has busted a major cricket betting racket in Delhi,and arrested two men involved in illegal betting on the India-Australia Champion Trophy semi-final.
The accused, Parveen Kochhar (55) and Sanjeev Kumar (55), both residents of Subhash Nagar, were caught red-handed in a rented premises in Dwarka’s Sector 23. A raid, led by Inspector Rakesh Kumar under the supervision of ACP Umesh Barthwal, resulted in the seizure of 25 mobile phones, two laptops, an LED smart TV, and betting records.
According to investigators, Kochhar purchased a "Master ID" from betting site Lucky.com and created accounts for punters, earning commissions on transactions. The syndicate also accepted bets manually via phone calls. Their daily transactions reportedly touched ₹1.5 lakh, with profits of ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 per match.
Kochhar, a former factory owner, and Kumar, a transport businessman who suffered losses during the pandemic, had been running the operation for two years. Further probe is underway.
