Shift in weather likely to misbehave
Kidney and diabetes patients more vulnerable
Health complications tend to increase during changing weather, especially for individuals already suffering from kidney diseases, diabetes, or other serious illnesses. Experts believe that by taking necessary precautions, one can avoid severe infections.
Dr. Himanshu Verma, Head of the Nephrology Department at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, has warned that after the COVID-19 Pandemic, a new type of virus has begun to spread. Infected individuals may develop symptoms such as cough, chest congestion, fever, and cold. If the infection worsens, it can lead to diseases like typhoid and pneumonia, which can be particularly dangerous for those with pre-existing health conditions.
Prevention is the Best Protection
According to Dr. Verma, special precautions must be taken during seasonal transitions:
Appropriate Use of Warm Clothing: Sudden removal of warm clothes can lead to cold-related illnesses. It is advisable to continue wearing warm clothes for at least 15 more days.
Limited Use of fans and air conditioners: Even if one feels slightly warm, using fans or air conditioners should be avoided, as it can increase the risk of cold and flu.
Caution in Food Choices:
Avoid consuming street food, as contaminated food can lead to infections.
Avoid crowded places: Given the rising cases of infections, it is best to stay away from crowded areas and stay masked while going out.
Special care for kidney and diabetes patients: People suffering from these conditions have weaker immunity, making them more vulnerable to infections.
Dr. Verma laid great emphasis on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and adjusting daily routines according to changing weather conditions. He stated, "We must prioritize our health because health is wealth."
Health experts believe that with a little caution and discipline, severe illnesses can be prevented. By taking necessary precautions during seasonal changes, not only can individuals safeguard themselves, but they can also protect their families.
