Cops work out ₹5.38 lakh investment scam

The Cyber Police Station, Shahdara, has successfully solved an investment scam case in which a complainant was cheated of ₹5,38,900 through a fraudulent WhatsApp scheme. The police arrested two accused involved in the scam after a thorough technical investigation.

According to officials, the case was registered based on a complaint by Kanwal Kumar Gulati who alleged that he was lured into an online investment scheme and lost his money to fraudsters.

A dedicated police team, led by Inspector Manish Kumar, SHO, Cyber Police Station, Shahdara, and supervised by ACP (Operations) Gurudev Singh, was formed to crack the case. After analyzing bank details and conducting technical surveillance, the team tracked down and arrested two suspects from Delhi.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gaurav (27), a cloth salesman from Baljit Nagar, and Gagandeep (27), a graphic designer from West Patel Nagar.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, Prashant P. Gautam, lauded the team's efforts, stating, "The swift action and technical expertise of the Cyber Police team helped bring the culprits to justice. We urge citizens to remain cautious of online investment schemes and report any suspicious activity to the police."

The police are further investigating to identify other individuals involved in the fraud.
