In a grand finale of the big match between Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh Police, the former clinched the title by defeating the latter in the final match of the 1st All India Police Cricket T-20 Tournament 2024-25 played at Arun Jaitley stadium.
Delhi Police won the toss and elected to field first. In the first innings, UP Police displayed 164 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of 9 wickets in stipulated 20 overs.,
Though the total was not too tall for the chasers, an early wicket in the form of Manjeet Singh shook the side a bit. But the fireworks from the Delhi Police continued dominating the seamers, the two batters in the centre hit both the opening bowlers to and over the fence without even blinking for a moment.
The winning squad achieved the target in just 15.5 overs, losing only 2 wickets, and defeated UP Police by 8 wickets to secure the prestigious title. SI Manish captained the Delhi Police team was declared Man of the Match for his valuable unbeaten 82 runs.
The Delhi Police bowlers displayed an impressive performance, containing the opposition. Manish, Sunil Sehwag, and Arun Kataria played pivotal roles, steering the team to an easy victory with scintillating performances.
The Chief Guest at the event Tapan Kumar Deka Director Intelligence Bureau with Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora flanked by top brass comprising Vivek Gogia, Neeraj Thakur, Devesh C. Srivastava, MN Tiwari, Satish Golcha, (Director General Tihar Prisons) Madhup Tewari, Chhaya Sharma, Vijay Singh, Rajender Singh Sagar (Organising Secretary), M. Harshvardhan, Hareshwar Swami, DCP Sandeep Byala and others presented the winners' trophy to the Delhi Police Team. They applauded both teams for their dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship. They congratulated the team for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament and placed great emphasis on the importance of such tournaments in promoting physical fitness and teamwork among police personnel.
The tournament, organized to foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and fitness among police personnel, saw participation from top police teams across the country. After a series of competitive matches held in various states, Delhi Police and UP Police advanced to the final showdown, showcasing exceptional cricketing skills.
The match was attended by several senior officers from both Delhi and UP Police, along with a large number of enthusiastic spectators who cheered for their respective teams.
