Women arrested for metro jewelry theft

The Delhi Metro Police have arrested two women accused of stealing gold jewelry worth ₹10 lakh from a passenger at the New Delhi Metro Station. The stolen items, including necklaces, rings, earrings, and a mang tikka, were recovered from their possession.
Sanju Kumari, a resident of Noida, was traveling from Siwan, Bihar. While entering the New Delhi Metro Station, she was pushed by an unknown woman. Moments later, she found her bag unzipped and her gold jewelry missing. A case was registered at Kashmere Gate Metro Police Station.
Investigating officer ASI Satender Kumar, with the assistance of W/Ct. Anshu, identified and interrogated a suspect, Preeti alias Sunita, who later confessed to the crime. She revealed that her accomplice, Anju alias Anjali, had fled with the stolen jewelry. A special team, under the supervision of Jt. CP Transport Vijay Singh and DCP Metro Hareshwar V. Swami, tracked Anju to Gujarat and apprehended her.
Both accused women have multiple theft cases against them, primarily in railway stations and metro premises.
Speaking about the arrests, DCP Metro Hareshwar V. Swami stated, "Our teams acted swiftly using human intelligence and technical surveillance to apprehend the culprits. The Delhi Metro Police remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of metro passengers."
The recovered jewelry has been seized, and further investigations are underway.
