20 Delhi Police officers and personnel awarded with medals

Delhi Police's 20 officers and personnel were conferred with prestigious medals on the occasion of Republic Day 2025. Among these, three officers received the esteemed President’s Medal for distinguished service, while 17 others were awarded the medal for meritorious service.

President’s Medal for Distinguished Service

The President’s Medal was awarded to the following officers for their outstanding contributions:

Asif Mohd. Ali, Additional Commissioner of Police (IPS 2009): Currently Joint Director at Delhi Police Academy, hehas led initiatives in capacity building and skill development, trained 75,000 personnel, and introduced online licensing services. His contributions include formulating juvenile policy frameworks and representing Delhi Police internationally.

Sanjay Dutt, ACP: Joining in 1989, Dutt has played a key role in high-profile operations against terrorists and gangsters, including the Delhi serial bomb blasts case. A two-time recipient of the Police Medal for Gallantry, his expertise in investigations and hi-tech surveillance is widely recognized.

Som Nath Paruthi, ACP: Known for his professional acumen, Paruthi has served in diverse capacities, including framing protocols for new criminal laws and contributing to the success of major events like the G20 Summit.

Medal for Meritorious Service

The Medal for Meritorious Service was awarded to 17 personnel for their exceptional dedication and service across various units:

Kamlesh Bisht, ACP: Recognized for her role in implementing IT training programmes and mission-mode projects like CCTNS.

 Harendra Singh, ACP: Noted for his investigation of high-profile cases like the Lajpat Nagar bomb blast.

Manoj Kumar, ACP: Played a pivotal role in cybercrime awareness and solving international crime cases, including drug and human trafficking.

Adarsh Kumar, ACP: Commended for his contributions to international policing missions and preparation for the G20 Summit.

Inspector Rahul Kumar: Led major operations, including busting terrorist modules and international drug cartels, with a record 1,300 kg cocaine seizure.

W/Inspector Sheela Sharma: Efficiently handled financial and administrative matters across various districts.

W/Inspector (Tech.) R. Najma Tahira: Delivered technical support for crucial communication systems during major events.

Inspector Pradeep Singh: Displayed excellence in wireless operations and VVIP security.

Inspector Bhupender Kumar: Ensured seamless maintenance of police vehicles during critical operations.

Additional recipients include Sub-Inspectors Hardwari Lal, Rakesh Kothiyal, Prabha, and Sumitra, ASIs Rekha Rani and Junaid Alam, Bugler Isidore Terkey, and HC Shiva Ramulu, all of whom displayed exemplary dedication in their respective roles.

Sanjay Arora, Police Chief, Delhi Police, congratulated the awardees and expressed gratitude for their unwavering service. These honours reflect the Delhi Police's commitment to excellence and its role in ensuring the safety and security of the national capital.

ASI Junaid Alam was enlisted in Delhi Police as constable (Executive) in the year 2003 and has ever since worked sincerely and with dedication at 4th Battalion DAP,  2nd Battalion DAP, Traffic, PRO Branch/PHQ. While being posted at DAP, he was assigned the challenging tasks of commando duties. After his tenure atTraffic, he was assigned the task of handling media related matters in Traffic Unit during which he prepared and analysed news clipping from various print and social media with a focus on Traffic Unit. Presently being posted at PRO Branch/PHQ he is utilising all the experience he gathered at Traffic Unit during handling media related matters. At PRO/PHQ he has been entrusted with the tasks of preparing early morning news clippings, Urdu translation, dissemination/uploading of press releases, assisting in the conduct of press conference at PHQ and facilitating media persons at events of Delhi Police.
