At a time when businesses are still grappling with how to integrate sustainability into their operations, Bhagyashree Bhansali Jain is showing the world how it’s done—with scale, impact, and profit. As the Founder and CEO of The Disposal Company, Bhagyashree has pioneered a transformative approach to environmental responsibility, making it a strategic asset rather than a corporate checkbox.

Her innovative plastic credits system diverts over 45,000 kg of plastic waste from landfills every month, helping more than 100 brands across India, Singapore, the UK, and the Middle East achieve plastic neutrality. This model doesn’t just check ESG boxes—it enhances brand value by embedding sustainability into core operations.

Recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2024 in the Social Impact category, Bhagyashree has attracted backing from leaders like Accenture, CIIE.CO, and Sanjiv Bajaj. These endorsements highlight her vision of sustainability as an economic driver, not just an ethical obligation.

She, in a span of eight years, has developed a deep understanding of waste management systems.

Under her leadership.

Let's delve deep into the journey she has traversed so far.

When did you take the initiative to start this enterprise?

I launched The Disposal Company in 2020, amid the global pandemic. While many were scaling back, I saw a growing need for sustainable solutions and seized the opportunity to address the intensifying plastic waste crisis.

How long did it take you to reach this pinnacle?

It’s been a focused four-year journey. In that time, we’ve expanded across four countries, diverted 45,000 kg of plastic monthly, and partnered with over 100 brands.

Whom do you attribute your success to?

My husband has been my biggest supporter—both emotionally and practically without whom this journey would have remained incomplete. My in-laws’ confidence in me paved the way.

Who is your role model?

Shah Rukh Khan. His journey from outsider to a global icon reflects resilience, reinvention, and authentic leadership—qualities that deeply inspire me.

What do you do at your leisure?

I travel and explore sustainability across cultures. i love spending time with my family—especially with my eight-month-old daughter, whose smile not only rejuvenates me but also helps me go the extra mile in my endeavours.

Why did you choose this segment?

My mother’s battle with cancer made me realize the profound link between environmental and human health. Now, as a mother myself, I’m committed to building a healthier planet for the next generation.

What was your starting capital?

We began with just ₹2 lakhs and were profitable from day one. Later, we secured funding from Accenture and CIIE.CO to scale the heights further.

What challenges have you faced as a woman in a patriarchal society?

A lot many, however I’ve turned those challenges into motivation, building a diverse, bias-aware company culture that delivers measurable impact.

Where do you see yourself in another five years?

We aim to be the global benchmark for scalable climate solutions from India, expanding into multiple environmental areas and targeting ₹100 Cr in ARR.

Last but not least, what message do you hold for posterity?

Stop using plastic and save the planet thus making a better place to live in.We must construct together a healthier tomorrow.
