Man wanted for 'attempt to murder' nabbed
The district police cracked an 'attempt to murder' case arresting one accused within 24 hours of the incident. The accused, identified as Aniket (20), a resident of CD Park, Jahangir Puri, was nabbed.
The victim, Piyush (22 years) sustained a bullet wound in the chest. In his statement, Piyush alleged that a few days earlier, he had a quarrel with Sumit alias Chavva. On the day of the incident, while heading off to the market, he encountered Sumit, Aniket, and Ranjeet alias Chhotu at Hathi Wala Park in C-Block. According to Piyush, the trio threatened him, and Sumit, armed with a pistol, shot him before fleeing the scene.
An FIR under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered, and an investigation was initiated.
Keeping in view the gravity of the case, a special team under the leadership of Inspector Satvinder Singh, SHO, PS Jahangir Puri with SI Parvesh, Head Constables Nityanand, Dinesh, Ravinder, Jeevan, Rakesh, Constable Naveen, under the supervision of ACP Jahangir Puri, Praveen Kumar was constituted.
The police team examined electronic surveillance and deployed local intelligence to track down the accused. Raids were conducted at multiple locations, and with the help of secret information, Aniket was arrested. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the attack with Sumit and Ranjeet. Aniket is now in JC and efforts are underway to locate others accused still on the lam.
Speaking on the arrest, DCP North-West Bhisham Singh said, “Our team acted swiftly and efficiently to track down one of the accused within 24 hours. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects at large. Such acts of violence will not be tolerated.”
The investigation is underway.
