Grand Parade amidst top brass
The Delhi Police marked its 78th Raising Day with a grand ceremonial parade at the Parade Ground, New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp. The event was graced by Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, as the Chief Guest, alongside Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The celebrations began with HM (MoS) Rai taking the salute and inspecting the parade, which was led by Parade Commander ACP Vivek Bhagat. The parade featured six contingents, including the Ceremonial Armed Police, Anti-Riot Squad, Female Contingent, Security Battalion Squad, Commando Squad, and Traffic Police Company, all marching to the beats of the Delhi Police Band, a moment filled with pride that marks the event as historic.
The march past was followed by an impressive display of specialized units and vehicles, including the Dog Squad, Female Bicycle Patrolling Squad, Motorcycle Squad, North-East Assistance Team Van, and an array of PCR and SWAT vehicles. The Facial Recognition System Vehicle, a crucial tool in identifying criminals and missing persons, was also showcased alongside the Delhi Police Mobile Forensic Van.
Focus on Cybercrime Awareness
In a bid to foster awareness about cybercrime, a short skit was performed post-parade that fostered awareness about innocent citizens falling prey to the satanic design of the cyber criminals. The act, presented by the IFSO Unit of the Delhi Police Special Cell, Delhi Theatre Group, and Delhi Police Academy, aimed to educate the public on digital frauds and cyber threats.
Chief Guest Praises Delhi Police
Addressing the gathering, Nityanand Rai lauded the professionalism and efficiency of the Delhi Police, particularly in handling law and order, traffic management, and security during major events like the G-20 Summit. He praised the force for embracing smart policing techniques, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to modernizing the police force, Rai affirmed that the Centre stands firmly with Delhi Police in its mission to ensure safety and law enforcement.
Police Chief 's achievements
In his welcome speech, Commissioner of Police Sanjay Arora reaffirmed Delhi Police’s commitment to crime prevention and public safety. He noted a 4% drop in heinous crimes in 2024 compared to 2022 and a reduction in robbery, snatching, and molestation cases over the past two years.
He also highlighted the successful recruitment of 10,900 new personnel in record time and emphasized the force’s crackdown on drug trafficking, with 21,232 kg of drugs worth ₹3,282 crore destroyed in 2024. Additionally, he mentioned the establishment of ‘Smita,’ a therapy center for special children of police personnel, currently supporting 52 children.
Honoring Police Personnel
The Chief Guest presented Gallantry, Distinguished Service, and Meritorious Service medals to 44 officers. A posthumous Police Medal for Gallantry was awarded to Late ASI Shambhu Dayal Meena, received by his wife Sanjana.

PS Ambedkar Nagar (1st place) – Inspector Rampal
PS Kirti Nagar and PS Jama Masjid (joint 2nd place) – Inspector Sanjeev Dodi and Inspector Adesh Prakash.
PS Anand Vihar (3rd place) – Inspector Manish Kumar
In his brief stay, Rai also visited the Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) stall, where Ms Ritu Arora, President PFWS, showcased products made by police families.
The event was attended by former Commissioners of Police and other retired police personnel.
