SALMAN SHEIKH
A swift and diligent investigation by the Khajuri Khas police led to the safe rescue of a two-year-old boy who was kidnapped from a crowded Sunday market and later sold for ₹3 lakh in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The police arrested four individuals, including two women, involved in the abduction and illegal sale of the child.
The Disappearance and Investigation
The case unfolded on February 10, 2025, when a woman reported that her two-year-old son had gone missing while they were at the Sunday market. Despite desperate attempts to locate him, the child was nowhere to be found. Acting swiftly, police registered a case under Section 137(2) BNS and launched an investigation.
A specialized team, led by Inspector Rakesh Yadav, under the supervision of ACP Vivek Tyagi, scanned over 500 CCTV cameras within a Kilometre radius. Their analysis helped identify a man carrying a child, later seen accompanied by a woman. The duo was tracked down and apprehended at Shahdara Railway Station.
Upon interrogation, the suspects—identified as Nahid alias Sahiba (32) and Mohammad Rizwan (25), confessed to abducting the child and selling him for ₹3 lakh to a couple in Aligarh. Based on their information, the police conducted a raid in Aligarh and safely rescued the child from Chammo (54), who had received the boy for adoption on behalf of her daughter and son-in-law.
The investigation further revealed the role of Shokin (50), a resident of Seelampur, who had approached Nahid to arrange a child for adoption in exchange for money. Lured by the offer, Nahid and Rizwan executed the kidnapping and handed over the child to their contacts in Aligarh.
Speaking of the successful operation, Additional DCP Sandeep Lamba said,
"This was a sensitive case, and our teams worked tirelessly to trace the missing child. The prompt action, thorough CCTV analysis, and coordinated efforts led to the safe recovery of the toddler and the arrest of all accused."
The child has been reunited with his parents, and further investigation is underway to uncover any additional links in the case.
