Illegal liquor and arms seized

In light of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections and to prevent any potential disturbances, the North-East District has intensified its security measures to apprehend criminals. Picket teams, patrolling units, and beat staff in the district have been instructed to ensure robust security arrangements and smooth operations.
Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct by the Election Commission of India for the upcoming Assembly elections, stringent actions have been taken by the North-East District. Between 7 January and 19 January 2025, a total of 19 cases have been registered across various police stations, leading to the arrest of 20 individuals involved in illegal liquor smuggling. From these offenders, 7,297 liquor bottles (1,313.46 liters) and two scooters have been seized.
During this period, under the Arms Act, various police station areas have reported the recovery of 8 knives, 5 pistols, 10 live cartridges, 1 toy pistol, and 2 cars.
