4 members of 'Naveen Khati' gang caught post shootout

Under the “No Guns, No Gangs” operation, the Special Staff of Dwarka District Police successfully apprehended four notorious members of the Naveen Khati gang following a dramatic shootout. The gangsters were planning an extortion attempt when the police intervened, averting a major crime.

Those who got arrested have been identified as Sajjan alias Lala 32 years, Neeraj alias Chotiwala 32 years, Nakul 30 years and Sandeep 36 years.They were found in possession of a sophisticated pistol, three country-made pistols, and six live cartridges. The gang members have an unending rap sheet with their involvement in heinous crimes, including murders, attempts to murder, and armed robberies.

The operation unfolded after the police received intelligence about the gang gathering at Sandeep’s house in Ghumenhera village. A raiding team, led by Inspector Vishvendra under the supervision of ACP Operations Ramavtar, reached the location.

Upon the police's arrival, the suspects attempted to flee. One of them, later identified as Sajjan alias Lala, opened fire on the police team, narrowly missing an officer. The police responded with a warning shot, Sajjan fired again, and the bullet struck the bulletproof jacket of Head Constable Dev Kumar.

In self-defense, Dev Kumar fired at Sajjan, hitting his leg. The injured accused and his associates were subsequently overpowered and arrested. Sajjan was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police from their possession have recovered one sophisticated pistol (7.65 mm), three country-made pistols,six live cartridges, and also the spent cartridges from Sajjan's gun were also found at the SOC.

A case under relevant sections of the law, including the Arms Act, has been registered at PS Chawla, and further investigation is underway.

Speaking about the success of the operation, DCP Dwarka, Ankit Singh, commended the vigilance and quick action of the Special Staff team. He reiterated the commitment of Dwarka Police to neutralize gangs and curb illegal firearms under the ongoing “No Guns, No Gangs” initiative.
