ATM fraud syndicate unearthed

The district police have busted a shocking ATM fraud and arrested two accused identified as Ankush  28 years from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, and Bidnesh 41 years from New Sanjay Colony, Delhi. They are reported to have been running a well devised scam targeting UCO and Axis Bank ATMs.

A complaint from UCO Bank, Mahila Colony, revealed that customers’ accounts were debited, but cash remained trapped in the ATM. Upon investigation, a team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar identified a suspicious car (Maruti Brezza, UP14GE57XX) near the ATM. A trap was laid, and the duo was apprehended on Pusta Road.

The accused used tools, including cutters and adhesive tape, to affix a ply under the ATM’s cash tray and tamper with its sensors. Customers left empty-handed, unaware their money was later retrieved by the duo. ₹5,000 in cash was recovered. Further probe in the case is underway.
